Re: Pro Guitar Shop 10 Guitarists You Should Know
No argument here... whatsoever! Quote: Danny Gatton, The Telemaster, was sometimes called the world’s greatest unknown guitarist. He seamlessly combined country, jazz, blues, and rockabilly influences with his own innovative virtuosity to create a deeply musical body of work. His admirers included Eric Clapton, Willie Nelson, Steve Earle and his own childhood guitar hero Les Paul, and though his album 88 Elmira Street was nominated for a Grammy Award in 1990 he never achieved the commercial success or widespread fame that his talent and creativity so obviously deserved. People who knew him have suggested that he had an ongoing battle with depression that led him to commit suicide in 1994 at the age of 49 It's sad that he makes so few of these lists.

Pretty much the same resume and "Greatest Unknown" tag for Roy Buchanan. also suicide at 48.
