C'est La Vie

I was down at the doctors today to get my hand looked at (again). Was originally planning on heading to the guitar store afterwards for a quick peek, but they took an hour to see me so I scrapped that idea.

Just found out that Mr Joe Bonamassa strolled into the store for most of the afternoon to try out some gear.

Just my bloody luck. Also, somehow I didn't know he was playing Glasgow tonight. :x

I've been given some anti-inflammatories and a referral to a hand specialist. The doc seems to think the pills might sort it out before I make it to the specialist, i'm not too optimistic though. It's been over 6 months now since the last time I could play properly.

Without being too nosy, what's up with the hand? I was having some inflammation in the third finger of the right hand (due to typing all the damn time). It caused the finger to not open or close smoothly; instead it would click either open or closed.

The doc gave me a shot of steroids directly into the tendon, and eventually it sorted it out.

Depending on what fingers I have pressed down I have trouble lifting my middle finger from the fretboard. It just wants to stay stuck down and will mute strings and play unwanted notes. There's no pain, no numbness, in fact it feels completely normal apart from when playing guitar.

It's a bit complicated to explain, but as you can imagine it's very annoying and severely limits what I can play. Right now I can't play things that I was able to 3 or 4 months after picking up guitar for the first time.

Ah that would suck for sure. Hopefully it will be sorted out and you'll be back at full throttle.
