That is a really unusual list, I applaud them for thinking outside of the box.
I'd include James Dean Bradfield though...

(Epic solo begins at 3:36...)

Oh please - more like "My pretentious list of guitarists, many of whom you've never heard of, since you're not as hip as me". If you're going to title a list "Greatest Guitarist of All Time", you'll have to be prepared to step outside your own little genre.

It's funny how the opening paragraph slags off Robert Johnson, Clapton, Hendrix and Van Halen. It's as if the idea of being famous for a reason never occurs to Spin (which is not unusual anyway). What twaddle.

Since the guitar was apparently not even invented until 1985, we can forget about Charlie Christian, Django Reinhardt, Pete Townsend, Chet Atkins, Steve Cropper, Carlos Santana and many, many more, eh?

Of course, "Greatest Guitarists of All Time" is subjective. I've never liked Van Halen or Santana ;)

Yeah, it's a hip list. If you don't know any of em, you're not. Coming in at No1 a band I'd barely heard of, and they're from my era. THe gushfest was quite obvious.

A left of centre list would be good, the known yet underrated, instead of the usual suspects. But that list is pointless if they're barely known outside their of own sub cultural domain.
