G&L : Left Handed Guitars & Basses

G&L Guitars was founded in California, USA in 1979 by Leo Fender, George Fullerton and Dale Hyat.  The company name is formed from the initials of George and Leo.  G&L instruments are similar to the classic Fenders, but with a few modern innovations which makes them highly regarded by many musicians and collectors.

As a left handed guitar player it may be difficult getting your hands on a G&L as there are only 3 lefty models on offer from this USA brand.  Also take into account that G&L are not very widely distributed so owning one of these could be a rare privilege indeed.

G&L Website

The G&L website is very basic in its design, but the clean and simple layout does make for an efficient browsing experience.  There is no option to quickly check out which guitars are available left handed, but the lefty guitars are clearly displayed separately from the right handed models, making them very easy to find.

One more thing, IRC their CEO is left handed. While they only make three Tribute models left handed, they will make just about any USA model left handed. I was looking at their version of the P-Bass and I could get it in a number of finishes, with neck wood options at less than a USA Fender Precision price (depending what you get on it, options add up of course).

This is partially incorrect – as stated by Alvin above, almost all USA G&Ls are available left handed, with all the different options that you can get right-handed too. it’s just the Tribute series for which there are only 3 lefty models.
