Competition CLOSED : Win Picks from Hufschmid Guitars

Neal March 24, 2012 13

Time for a brand new competition!  This month LeftyFretz has teamed up with Patrick Hufschmid from Hufschmid Guitars of Switzerland, who has very graciously offered to give away a set of his incredible new guitar picks.  Read on to find out how you can win…

Not being content with creating some of the most stunning guitars on the planet, Patrick Hufschmid has recently turned his master skills to crafting his very own range of guitar picks.  These picks are all completely hand-crafted and are made from a secret, hard-as-nails material he calls ‘PHD‘.  I jumped on one of the first of Patrick’s PHD creations and let me tell you, after 4 or 5 months of fairly regular use there is no wear whatsoever – incredible!

Hands-down, these are my personal favorite of all of the boutique guitar picks I have tried – and you guys know I have tried a lot. Enter this month’s contest for a chance to win some!

The Prizes

One lucky winner will net themselves two of Hufschmid’s handmade White Drop picks, as well as one Black Drop, worth around 60 Euros.  The White Drops are particularly special as they were part of a very limited run produced while Patrick had the material – these are the final two available!

The picks themselves are very substantial in girth, being between roughly 0.7 and 0.9mm at their widest.  Due to the extra depth they are very easy to hold, and this translates to extra efficiency in your playing!  They are polished to a super-high sheen and glide effortlessly over the strings.  Check out the in-depth video below which lays out the work involved in making a single White Drop.

I’d love to try these picks. I use Fender mediums, nothing fancy, but I’ve been playing with them for years.

I used to play guitar and bass… thinking about starting up again.

Watched the vid. These are special. It was like watching a craftsman making jewellery. And handmade jewellery at this standard would be a hell of a lot more expensive. I hope I win!

Patrick doesn’t do things half-arsed, that’s for sure. (That’s why I hope to someday own one of his guitars). He told me that these should cost WAY more than what he charges for them – he’s not joking! ;) You would be flabbergasted at the price for a sheet of his PHD material.
