Ibanez Left Handed Guitars and Basses 2011

Neal August 1, 2011 18

Ibanez is a Japanese guitar brand which was founded in 1908 by Hoshino Gakki.  They were one of the first Japanese musical instrument companies to gain a solid reputation in the United States and Europe.  The company is also well known for being pioneers in bringing the 7-string guitar to the masses.

Ibanez have recently announced their new summer 2011 range of left handed guitars.  A good number of these guitars are ‘limited editions’ and will likely sell out fairly quickly, so get in there quickly if you want one!  I have to say that it’s great to see Ibanez offering some more interesting finish choices to the lefty guitarists – even if they are only limited editions.

Let’s take a look at the new range of left handed guitars from Ibanez…

Ibanez Website

Certain Ibanez websites just got a whole lot better thanks to the introduction of a new left handed section!  This allows us to quickly and easily discover which guitars are available left handed and is much appreciated!  The USA website has still to catch up, but hopefully we’ll see them following suit soon.

I think this just goes to show that Ibanez are a company who listen to their players.  Last year we moaned, and this year they delivered.  Certainly as far as their social presence is concerned, Ibanez has it nailed (unlike others who just use these mediums to sell product).  They regularly chat with the fans on formats such as Twitter and Facebook, so if you have a suggestion let them know and i’m sure they’ll take it on board.

I’m really surprised they haven’t at least brought out a limited edition lefty 7 since the RG7420L. Seems like everyone and their dog has a 7 these days :P But you just know that when they do it again, it will be black.

awww why is the Ibanez JEM a limited edition guitar? It was available last year too right? Or was it some other kind of JEM?
I gotta say I’ve always loved that JEM, it’s the first guitar I’ll buy when I have that kinda money :)

PS – If the Ibanez guys see this – I also loved the Ibanez SA260FML, the other black ones seem too… 80s.. :|

Yeah, Ibanez should really say ‘limited availability’. I think ‘limited edition’ just sounds better than ‘we’re not making many of them’ :P They were available last year, as was the JS1200L, but they sold out pretty quick – at least the JS1200 did.

Compared to last year, all I can say is that THIS IS AWESOME :D
But still no Iceman or X-series :’(

they shouldve removed the roudrigez and given us an RG prestige that isnt black..this guitar is so friggin ugly
    also, all prestiges gone?

    • Neal August 15, 2011 at 11:45 am - Reply

There is actually a new prestige but it only seems to be available in Europe. RG1570ZL in black as per usual. I’ll need to add it.

Sr600 actually where can I buy this one no one in the Detroit area have them and what is the price?
    Thanks

I first noticed the SR600 a few weeks ago here http://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/left_guitars_detail.asp?stock=11061312470547

£538 is the UK price, but obviously these will be a little cheaper if they are to be sold in the USA. Personally, i’ve only seen these in europe so far.

That’s a good question, I went to Skip’s and had Scott ask the Ibanez distributor when the SR605L was going to be available, unfortunately the distributor is currently unaware of any SR600L/SR605L models that will be offered in the U.S. – BAH!

    • Neal August 15, 2011 at 11:47 am - Reply

I asked Ibanez USA about the SR600L when I saw it in my local store a few weeks ago – they had no idea about it. I do hope they make it across the pond to you guys.

I’m thinking we’ll never see it in the States. Previously I bought the SA260FML from Guitar Guitar UK, as it was of course unavailable in the US. At the time, my timing was perfect as I managed to not only get a favorable exchange rate, I received the guitar THREE (3) working days after placing my order, the total cost including VAT and other charges still came to be about what the similar right handed model sold for at Guitar Center in the US.

I was extremely pleased with the quick service and arrival condition of my purchase from Guitar Guitar, I felt it somewhat ironic that to get a purchase from the UK took only 3 working days when another purchase from Guitar Center took over a week.

My thoughts are that if I can catch another favorable exchange rate on the SR605L, I might try that route again, or perhaps do a special order from Carvin if that ends up not being fesible.

GuitarGuitar are great yeah. There’s one here in Glasgow, I’ve never seen so many left handed guitars in my life :) Surprising that you got the guitar so quickly though. When I ordered my MusicMan from the States I paid for next day delivery, and it did arrive next day, but then customs held on to it for over 2 weeks…
