NAMM 2010 : Taylor GS Mini Available Left Handed!

Neal Beedie June 30, 2010 11

Breaking news! We have just confirmed with a Taylor representative that the newly announced GS Mini acoustic will be available left-handed! Expect to see this little gem in stores by the end of July at around the $500 mark complete with case.

Personally I have always felt that the Baby Taylor was a little too ‘small’ sounding and the Big Baby a tad large for travel.  The GS Mini really seems to bridge this gap and I’m definitely looking forward to trying this little beauty for myself.

Take a peek at the video below for a thorough preview of the GS Mini and its optional accessories

Much love to Taylor, they are one of the few guitar brands who know how to cater for left handed guitar players as well!

Is that available from July 2011? Great news, is there anywhere that one may be able to place an order??

Hi Nick. These are now starting to appear in stores in the USA and I imagine they will be available throughout the rest of the world shortly. For example http://www.southpawguitars.com/ now have them in stock at $499, and $100 for the pickup.

I’m interested in one of these myself, so my UK dealer is going to get in touch when they’re available here as well.

Thanks Neal – very excited about this news! I’m overseas at the moment – do you happen to know where I can find out information about import tax on guitars – in particular Japan?

    Thanks

No, sorry Nick. I always use Dutycalculator.com when i’m importing, but that doesn’t have an option for Japan unfortunately.

My son is 8 and I am trying to find him a mini acoustic however I am having a difficult time finding one for the left hand. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Sara. You might find one of the following two articles useful:

      1/2 Sized Left Handed Guitars – http://leftyfretz.com/lefty-guitars-kids-half-sized-left-handed-models/
      3/4 Sized Left Handed Guitars – http://leftyfretz.com/lefty-guitars-smaller-hands-kids-left-handed/

The GS Mini on this page would be another nice choice.

    Nice!
May I ask where you got yours?

I got mine from GuitarGuitar here in the UK. They got 8 of them in last week and were the first in the UK to stock them. There’s a photo of mine on the facebook page photo album for anyone who wants to see it.
