Hagstrom

Hagstrom are a Swedish guitar brand who had actually stopped production back in 1983.  However, their guitars became so collectable and highly sought after that they resumed production in 1996 to rave reviews.  The guitars are now produced in China and as such are very affordable.  They have a great selection of left handed models to boot!

I used both the USA and UK websites to obtain a list of what is available so keep in mind that some of these may or may not be available depending on where you live.  The websites (EU in particular) were horrible to use with seemingly conflicting information so take this guide with a pinch of salt ;)

Serious guitarists worldwide are jazzed about the reintroduction of the Hagstrom Super Swede, especially at such an amazingly low price. Brilliant craftsmanship is evident in every detail of the mahogany body with carved maple top, flamed maple veneer, set mahogany neck, and bound Resinator fretboard with pearl block inlays. The queen of the Hagstrom line, the Super Swede sports Custom ’58 humbuckers with thick, rich bottom end and warm clarity on top plus coil splitting for single-coil sounds.

For decades they maintained their market value so well that Hagstrom resumed production in 1996 to rave reviews. The Swede electric guitar is one of their most cherished models, reborn with a mahogany body, carved mahogany top, set mahogany neck, bound Resinator fretboard, and 2 Hagstrom Custom ’58 humbuckers for the classic tone that made Hagstrom famous.

The Hagstrom Viking Semi-Hollowbody Electric Guitar covers all genres from blues/rock to jazz/fusion and back again. With an arched semi-hollow maple body, its looks are as sweet as its tone. Two Hagstrom humbuckers, combined with the resonant semi-hollow body, provide plenty of power. And no Hagstrom is complete without their famous, fast-playing neck. The Viking has the patented H-Expander truss rod which provides tension at either end and runs the entire length of the neck. The rigid yet lightweight alloy truss rod allows for very low action and a thin set maple neck.
