Lick of the Week Lesson 5
Lick 5 uses tapping combined with legato in E minor. It’s quite a tricky one as there are some big stretches played at speed so as usual, if you find the lick challenging at first, remember to slow it down and make sure you are warmed up to avoid any injury. Once you have learned the notes slow, you will notice that the same pattern repeats again in another position higher up the neck. In the first position, after playing the tapped note there is a pull of from the 12th fret to the 7th fret and then a hammer on back to the 12th fret, from here a slide is played to get to the 14th fret. In each position after first tapping the note, there is then a slide up to the same note before the lick continues.
If you’re struggling to get this lick down then leave a question below and we’ll get back to you. If you manage to nail this lick then consider leaving a video response for us on YouTube. Also be sure to check out more of Tom’s playing on his YouTube channel
