Lick of the Week Lesson 7
Lick 7 is in a similar style to that of the monster Fusion player, Frank Gambale. Once again, the main technique used here is economy picking. This is the technique for which Frank is known for both using and developing. After the pickup phrase at the end of Bar 1, the next bar features the same pattern that is moved up the neck. See tab for picking directions. When using economy picking, the pick will often lean slightly in the direction that the pick is travelling. For example on downstrokes it will lean forwards and vice versa so it is important not to hold the pick too tight and to stay as relaxed as possible.
