PRS Left Handed Guitars

Wondering which left-handed PRS guitars are currently available? Let’s take a look!

At the time of writing, the current range only includes guitars from the SE series. However, there are also Wood Library special runs and Private Stock options that you may find at specialist dealers.

There are also older and limited edition PRS left-handed models available on the second-hand market. For example, check out these incredible limited edition Sand Blasted SEs that were a European exclusive.

But what’s available right now? Let’s see…

In my article ‘why are left-handed guitars more expensive?‘, I spoke with PRS to find out more about why they produce such a small number of lefties. It’s interesting reading if you have a few minutes spare!

In addition, in a 2015 Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything), Paul Reed Smith claimed that just 0.5% of guitarists play left handed. So, this could help to explain why the brand is so reluctant to build many left-handers. Here is the full quote:

“I was told the left handed market was 5%..1 out of 20. It’s not. Its 1/2 of 1%..1 out of 200. The thing about left handed guitars is that if your going to do it right the following list has to all be done backwards: the cases, nut slots, side dots, neck carve, body shape, knob numbers, bridge, pot tapers, and the owner’s manual is written in French.”

Where To Buy PRS Left-Handed Guitars

Left Handed PRS Guitars

At the moment, the only regular production left handed PRS guitars on offer are from the SE series. SE stands for ‘Student Edition’, and comprises a range of more affordable guitars to allow players to experience the PRS magic on a lower budget.

Although the left-handed PRS SE series is the lower end of the PRS price range, these models also make great workhorse guitars and are regularly seen in the hands of professional players.

PRS SE Custom 24 Left Handed

Left Handed PRS SE Custom 24 Slate Blue

The PRS SE Custom 24 left-handed has been offered for several years now, with a new color or two generally being added each year. New for 2026 is the stunning slate blue model shown above!

It also also available in black gold sunburst, shown below. Both models are priced around the $900 USD mark.

These brand new 2026 models feature new sloped pickup ring designs as well as redesigned tuners with wing buttons. A subtle difference, but definitely a nice visual upgrade from last year’s models.

Left Handed PRS SE Custom 24 Black Gold Sunburst

The main features of the left-handed PRS SE Custom 24 include a mahogany body for a punchy tone and excellent sustain, plus a gorgeous flame maple top.

The wide-thin maple neck is both comfortable and fast to play, and the 24-fret rosewood fingerboard is adorned with those famous PRS Birds inlays.

Other standout appointments include a pair of PRS 85/15 S pickups that can be used in either humbucker or single-coil modes. Plus, the PRS-designed tremolo is ultra-stable, keeping perfect tuning under heavy use.

The Custom 24 is the design that started it all for PRS, and is perfect for bedroom guitarists or studio/gig playing alike.

PRS Wood Library

The PRS Wood Library gives dealers the opportunity to select from a range of the brand’s best woods to produce a range of exclusive, custom-spec’d guitars.

So, essentially, dealers can take any PRS Core-Line model and substitute any of the woods to create unique and collectible variations of these already incredible USA-made instruments.

At the time of writing, Sweetwater has a gorgeous selection of left-handed Wood Library Custom 24s. Thomann also has a range of stunning Wood Library left-handed PRS Custom 24 models. Once they’re gone, they’re gone!

PRS Left Handed Private Stock

As I’ve already touched on above, we do still have the option of left-handed PRS Private Stock guitars for players who are feeling pretty flush. For those who don’t know, Private Stock is essentially the custom shop division at PRS.

Private Stock guitars offer the highest levels of customization, using only the best quality woods that you wouldn’t find on standard models. If you’d like, you can even go to the PRS factory and hand-select the woods yourself. Every guitar is a unique, handmade work of art.

I mean, just take a look at this insane creation that our friends over at LeftyGuitarsOnly had a few years back! I think this has got to be one of the most interesting and unusual left handed guitars I’ve ever seen.
