A Brief Grosh Guitars History
Born in California, USA, Don Grosh grew up with a real passion for working with his hands. He started off building skateboards and BMX bikes, where he developed his skills in woodworking and welding. Soon afterward, he graduated to making guitars after spotting a picture of Steve Lukather in a 1985 issue of Guitar Player magazine.
Grosh perfected his luthiery skills whilst working for Valley Arts Guitars, which was one of Los Angeles’ most in-demand custom guitar brands during the 1980s. Starting off in a lower-level position in the brand’s repair shop, he quickly rose through the ranks eventually becoming production supervisor.
After honing his craft for seven years at Valley Arts Guitars he made the decision to leave and begin building guitars under his own name. Don Grosh Custom Guitars was born in 1993 with the aim of building the finest hand-crafted instruments for the world’s top professionals and guitar enthusiasts.
