Blank Banjo Tab Paper (Free & Printable PDF Sheets)

Free printable blank banjo tab paper for 5-string and 4-string banjo

Download free printable banjo tab paper for both 5-string and 4-string banjo.

Whether you’re working out a new roll, writing down a clawhammer arrangement, mapping out a tenor banjo melody, or creating lesson material for a student, these blank banjo tablature sheets give you a clean and practical place to record your ideas.

The templates are designed with thin orange lines that remain easy to write over in pen or pencil. This helps your fret numbers, rhythm markings, slides, hammer-ons, pull-offs, and other notation stay clear on the page.

Prefer a more traditional look? Set your printer to black-and-white and the orange lines will print in a light grey shade instead.

You’ll find separate downloads for the standard 5-string banjo as well as 4-string banjos, including tenor and plectrum banjo.

Blank 5-String Banjo Tab Paper

These blank 5-string banjo tab sheets are designed for the most common type of banjo used in bluegrass, clawhammer, old-time, folk, and country music.

All of the sheets below are supplied as printable PDFs and are set up to fit standard A4 paper. Because the files are in PDF format, they can also be scaled to suit other paper sizes without losing sharpness.

Choose from 8, 10, or 12 rows of blank banjo tablature depending on how much space you need.

You can also download versions containing 4, 5, or 6 rows of tab paired with a standard music staff. These are useful when you want to record rhythm, note values, melody, or conventional notation alongside the tablature.

Blank 4-String Banjo Tab Paper

I have also included a selection of blank 4-string banjo tab paper for tenor banjo, plectrum banjo, and other four-string setups.

The plain tab versions are ideal for writing melodies, chord shapes, scale patterns, and picking exercises. The versions with a music staff are especially helpful when transcribing traditional tunes or recording precise rhythm alongside the fret numbers.

As with the 5-string templates, each sheet is available as a printable PDF and can be downloaded by clicking the preview image or the direct link below it.

How To Use

The tab lines decrease in size as the number of rows increases.

If you prefer to write your tablature larger, choose the 6 or 8 row versions. If you need to fit more music onto each page, pick one of the smaller 10 or 12 row layouts.

Similarly, the 4 row version with staff gives you more room for larger notation, while the 6 row version is better for fitting longer or more detailed arrangements onto the page.

These blank banjo tab sheets are ideal for writing songs, noting down rolls and picking patterns, transcribing tunes, or creating exercises and lesson material for banjo students.

I would also be happy to add more banjo tab paper layouts if there is a format that would make these sheets more useful.
