Fender Left Handed Guitars & Basses

Are you searching for a Fender left handed guitar or bass, but are unsure of exactly which models are currently available?

Well, fear not! This mammoth guide will give you a run-down of all of the left handed Fender guitars and basses available to you, including standard production models, factory special runs (FSRs), Mod Shop options, and Custom Shop dream guitars.

Does Fender Make Left-Handed Guitars?

Yes — Fender consistently offers a small but solid range of left-handed guitars and basses. Guitars are available from the more affordable Player II series, all the way up to the higher-end American Ultra II range and ultra-premium Fender Custom Shop options.

Fun Fact! The 2nd most expensive guitar ever sold at auction is a left-handed Fender Mustang. Read The 50 Most Expensive Guitars Ever Sold.

Fender has also released a raft of new guitars this year, including the entry-level Standard range as well as the Player II Modified series. These new ranges are for righties only at the moment, but the brand often introduces left-handed models a few months down the line. So keep an eye out for fresh models as the year goes on!

American Vintage II

Player II Series

Left Handed Fender Player Series

For lefties, the Player II series is the brand’s main entry point into real Fender guitars (aside from Squier). It’s aimed at intermediate players or working musicians who want quality without the premium price tag.

Here, you’ll find left-handed versions of the legendary Stratocaster and Telecaster in a selection of iconic Fender finishes. Built in Mexico, they offer modern features like a satin neck finish and updated hardware, with pricing typically around $800–$1,000 USD.

American Professional II Series

Left Handed Fender American Pro II Series

Aimed at serious players and professionals, the American Professional II line is Fender’s modern U.S.-made workhorse series. These guitars offer a blend of classic Fender tone alongside player-friendly updates like rolled fretboard edges, contoured neck heels, and V-Mod II pickups.

They’re reliable, versatile instruments that cover most styles, with prices in the $1,700–$1,900 USD range. Left-handed Fender Telecaster, Stratocaster, and Jazzmaster models are currently found within this USA-made series. This is currently the only standard range that includes a left-handed Fender Jazzmaster.

American Vintage II Series

Left Handed Fender American Vintage II Series

The American Vintage II series is for players who want a period-correct Fender, down to the smallest details. Guitars in this line are U.S.-made recreations of specific vintage years — same pickups, neck profiles, hardware, and finishes as the originals.

These are ideal for vintage enthusiasts, collectors, or players chasing era-specific tones. Within this range you will find the legendary 1951 Fender left-handed Telecaster, plus two left-handed Fender Stratocasters (1957 & 1961 inspired models). Prices are generally in the $2,000–$2,400 USD range.

American Ultra II Series

Left Handed Fender American Ultra II Series

The American Ultra II is Fender’s top-tier modern series, made for players who want premium build quality with high-performance features. These guitars have compound-radius fingerboards, noiseless pickups, locking tuners, and contoured bodies for extra comfort.

They’re ideal for advanced players, session musicians, or anyone who wants a sleek, versatile instrument. At present, the only southpaw model available is the left handed Fender American Ultra II Stratocaster. Available in 3 amazing finishes, pricing is around $2,250 USD.

Artist Series

Left Handed Fender Kurt Cobain Jaguar

The Fender Artist Series features signature guitars built to the specs of famous players, but left-handed options are extremely limited. As of 2025, there is only one Artist Series model available as a left-handed version:

Kurt Cobain Jaguar – A faithful recreation of Cobain’s heavily modified 1965 Jaguar. It features dual DiMarzio humbuckers, a bound rosewood fretboard, and a unique control layout. Built in Mexico, this model is currently the only left-handed Fender Jaguar available. Priced around $1,300–$1,500 USD.

Fender Custom Shop

Left Handed Fender Custom Shop Guitars

Fender’s Custom Shop guitars are handcrafted builds made by the brand’s top luthiers in California. These are premium-tier instruments aimed at collectors, touring pros, and serious players who want the best materials, craftsmanship, and vintage accuracy. Options include heavy relic finishes, rare tonewoods, custom wiring, and exact replicas of legendary models.

Left-handed Fender Custom Shop builds are available, but they’re not mass-produced — most are made-to-order or released in limited runs. Pricing starts around $3,500 USD and can climb well past $10,000 USD depending on specs.

If you’re a lefty looking for a dream guitar or a historically accurate replica, this is where you’ll find it — just expect a wait time or the need to go through a specialty dealer.

Left Handed Fender Bass Guitars

Compared to the selection of electric guitars, the current range of left-handed Fender bass guitars is comparatively poor. Hopefully, the brand will be working on improving things, but at present, only two standard Fender ranges contain southpaw basses.

American Professional II

Left Handed Fender American Pro II Basses

The American Professional II basses are U.S.-made instruments designed for working musicians who need reliability, great tone, and modern features. They sit in the sweet spot between vintage feel and contemporary performance.

As a southpaw player, you’ll find two key models consistently available:

Left-Handed Fender American Professional II Precision Bass – A rock-solid, punchy bass with a deep low end and a thick neck profile. It features a V-Mod II split-coil pickup, smooth rolled fretboard edges, and a sculpted neck heel for better upper-fret access. This left-handed Fender P-Bass is ideal for rock, punk, and classic tones with serious thump.

Left-Handed Fender American Professional II Jazz Bass – More articulate and flexible than the P-Bass, this left-handed Fender Jazz Bass has two V-Mod II single-coil pickups and a slimmer neck, making it a great choice for funk, jazz, and modern styles that need clarity and bite.

Expect pricing around $1,800–$2,000 USD. If you’re a gigging bassist or upgrading from an entry-level instrument, these are two of the most dependable, stage-ready left-handed basses Fender offers.

American Vintage II

Left Handed Fender American Vintage Basses

The American Vintage II Series is all about historical accuracy — these are U.S.-made recreations of classic Fender designs from specific years, using period-correct specs, hardware, and finishes. They’re aimed at players and collectors who want a true vintage feel and tone without going fully Custom Shop.

American Vintage II 1966 Jazz Bass LH – A faithful recreation of the mid-’60s J-Bass, this model features a bound rosewood fingerboard with pearloid block inlays, dual vintage-style single-coil pickups, and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish. It delivers the articulate, scooped tone that Jazz Basses are known for, with a slim neck that’s great for fast playing and intricate lines. This Fender left-handed Jazz bass is perfect for funk, jazz, R&B, and modern indie/rock styles.

Two different finishes are available left-handed (shown above), and pricing is typically around $2,200–$2,400 USD.

Fender Custom Shop

Fender Custom Shop basses are the pinnacle of what the brand offers — built by master luthiers for players who want vintage precision, custom specs, or historically accurate recreations of classic models. Whether it’s a 60s-style P-Bass with era-correct nitro finish or a road-worn J-Bass built to your specs, these instruments are crafted to be lifelong tools — or collector-grade pieces.

Left-handed Custom Shop basses do exist, but they’re not part of standard production. Most are made through dealer-exclusive runs or custom orders, which means selection is limited and lead times can be long. Prices typically start around $4,000 USD and can rise significantly depending on the level of customization, relic treatment, and model complexity.

Left Handed Fender Acoustic Guitars

As with the basses, Fender really seems to have trimmed down the selection of southpaw acoustics over the last few years. A mere 4 guitars are available at the time of writing – let’s take a look!
