Music Man Left Handed Guitars and Basses

Looking for a left handed Music Man bass or guitar? Well, you’ve come to the right place! Throughout this article, we’ll look at the entire range of left-handed Ernie Ball Music Man instruments to see what is available.

Music Man is one of the world’s best-known manufacturers of high-quality guitars and basses. The company is a division of the Ernie Ball corporation, with all of the instruments being expertly handcrafted in California, USA.

Unfortunately, quite a few left-handed Ernie Ball Music Man guitars have been discontinued recently. This is a real shame as these are some of the best instruments I’ve ever had the pleasure of playing (and owning).

Does Ernie Ball Music Man Make Left Handed Guitars?

Yes! At the time of writing, Music Man offers the Mariposa guitar left handed as well as the Stingray Special bass. In addition, left handed Music Man bass guitars can be custom ordered online through the new Custom Design Experience.

Music Man Mariposa Left Handed Guitar

The Music Man Mariposa left handed guitar was designed in collaboration with Omar Rodriguez Lopez. If interested, you can find out more about him in my list of famous left handed guitarists.

The Mariposa features an offset lightweight Okoume body, a roasted maple neck, and an ebony fingerboard that showcases pearlescent-style block inlays. Electronics include two custom-wound EBMM humbucking pickups with separate volume control for each pickup, controlled by a 3-way pickup selector switch that allows for variable humbucking combinations when needed. The pickguard is laser etched with an ornate design coordinated to complement specific finish options.

Custom Design Experience

As of 2024, there’s actually one more option for left handed Ernie Ball Music Man fans. Say hello to the Custom Design Experience, a new service that allows you to spec up and order your dream USA-made instrument.

Custom Design Experience Example

The Custom Design Experience allows us to pick the body finish, style and color of hardware, neck and fretboard woods, the type of inlay, and even the tuning that you’d like the instrument to be set up for.

At the time of writing, this platform only includes 4 and 5-string Stingray basses. Fingers crossed Ernie Ball will add additional guitars over time!

During the whole process, we get a real-time 3D view of the instrument as well as the final price for your custom axe. Once complete, simply pay online and wait for the guitar to be built. Music Man currently states that the build time will be between 4 and 6 months.

Music Man Website

The Music Man website doesn’t make it easy to see which guitars are available left handed. As a result, I had to get in touch with the company to get a definitive list.

Although the selection of left handed Ernie Ball Music Man guitars is relatively poor at the moment, they have informed me that they do hope to offer more in the future. Fingers crossed!

If you’d like a Music Man guitar or bass but can’t quite stretch your budget to one of these handcrafted beauties then you might also like to check out Sterling by Music Man.

This brand offers similar instruments (licensed by Ernie Ball) but at a more affordable price point due to them being built in Indonesia.
